Welcome


Christopher Diffey is one of this generation’s up and coming Tenors in command of the Bel Canto repertoire, specialising in the works of Gioaccchino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini and Gaetano Donizetti. After relocating from Melbourne, Australia, he recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music Opera Course. Christopher has performed all over the United Kingdom and Europe, making his London debut at Saint Martin-in-the-Fields with the London Pro Arte Orchestra and the East London Chorus.


Christopher’s stage work in the United Kingdom includes playing Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville with Opera Brava, Garden Opera and at the Dartington International Summer School, covering Ernesto in ETO’s production of Don Pasquale and Kudrjas in Scottish Opera Go Round’s production of Katya Kabanova, playing Colonel Fairfax (Yeoman of the Guard) at the Buxton International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival where he received rave reviews, Don Curzio in a production of Le Nozze di Figaro directed by John Copley and conducted by Sir Colin Davis and performances of Bach’s Mass in A Major with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment conducted by Gustav Leonhardt.


Christopher most recently performed the role of Fenton in Verdi’s masterpiece Falstaff at the Longborough Festival, covered two roles in the World Premier of Clemency by James MacMIllan at the Linbury Studio Theatre ROH2, performed in two World Premier pieces at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival, played Paris inTroy Boy (La Belle Hélène) for the Merry Opera Company, Rodolfo in the Olivier Award winning production of La Bohème by OperaUpClose to rave reviews and a sold-out season, made his role debut as Alfredo (La Traviata) for Garden Opera and Ramiro (Cenerentola) for OperaUpClose, and covered the roles of Lysander (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) for Garsington Opera and Duke (Rigoletto) for Iford Opera.


Currently, Christopher is giving further performances of Mercury in a new translation of Orpheus In The Underworld with Scottish Opera at London’s Young Vic theatre, as well as reprising his role in Unexpected Opera’s staged version of Handel’s Messiah.


In 2012, Christopher will be performing the role of “Barney the trick pony” in Circus Tricks by Michael Henry & Adey Grummet for Tête à Tête Opera, Pedrillo in Abduction from the Seraglio for Iford Opera and further work with Scottish Opera later in the summer.
